What last summer must have done to her cherries. Rose Wylie painted them individually, round and plump, then as if they were a couple just before they disappeared into the mouth. A red object, sandwiched between thin lips and mercilessly sharp teeth. "Cherry in My Mouth (2013)" displays only two features, nostrils and a few eyelashes, as the view zooms ever closer into the approaching face.

Wylie takes inspiration for her paintings from film, literature and even the scraps of newspaper articles on her studio floor. Often arranging her large-scale paintings in book formation, so that they take on the angles found at the corner of a room, Wylie’s use of familiar imagery allows her to tell stories and explore themes of representation in narratives already in the public domain.

The lifelike, yet totally self-absorbed masks of Jinyoung Yu emerge from the darkened gallery space. These masks appear glasslike although they are actually made of plastic. Colorful legs and shoes emerge with the same haptic quality as the faces. A new variation of far eastern Pop Art?
